17 Year old Melvin Bell was critically injured in a vehicle accident on Tuesday, March 10th. Bell sustained 4th degree burns to 50% of his body along with a broken femur and some bleeding on his brain. He has already undergone emergency surgery to remove his spleen and repair his liver. Melvin's doctors say he will be in the hospital for at least six months and will endure many more surgeries. We are very sad to report that Melvin's two friends that he was in the vehicle with...didn't make it. Our prayers go out to the families of David Montez and Jeff Seymour
Chowchilla Barn Burner will be selling 1 dozen frozen Cinnamon Rolls for $10 at this Saturdays Championship Events. All donations will be deposited into the "Melvin Bell Fundraiser" account at CitiBank in Chowchilla, CA. We will post the account number soon. Please keep Melvin and his family in your prayers as they endure these trying times. God bless.

Curt and Teresa, Parents of Melvin Bell could use everyone's support. Maybe a gift certificate to Save-mart or McDonalds, Carl Juniors, cash or whatever. This is a tragic event unfolding for them and I am sure, though they are greatful that Melvin is Alive and doing pretty well. The expenses are going to be through the roof. Maybe a prepaid gas card for the trips to the hospital. A home cooked meal. Freezer meals, offer to feed and care for their pets. There are a lot of things we can do that will help them all get through this.
Please do.

Will you please update us on Melvin Bell? How is he doing?
What can we do as friends?
I would like to update you all on Melvin's progress. It seems like our life has been whirlwind since the accident on 3/10/09. Melvin has endured 30 separate surgeries and started light physical rehabilitation. As soon as all his grafting heals sufficiently he will be transferred to San Jose to the Critical Burn Unit there. His Dr feels they are better equipped to handle his case. I don't quite know how we are going to do this but we trust that God provide for us a way. He still will have many months of rehab and then eventually some follow up surgeries as necessary. He is feeling so much better and would appreciate any visit from his friends. It gets very lonely up there with basically only his Mom and I everyday with only an occasional visitor to cheer him up.
There is one (of many) rumor that I must address. We have been told that WE had decided that no one that did not contribute to his fund raiser could not visit him. It really hurts that someone would say such a thing and we have not passed that on to Melvin of course. First of all, we do not know who did and did not contribute to his recovery fund. We are so blessed by the huge effort that was given by the community and will forever be grateful but almost entirely they were anonomously given. Thank you to each and every one of you that helped. God Bless You.
Today 7/10/09 is Melvin Bell's birthday and he is in a very good mood although spending it in the hospital. The nursing staff decorated his room and brought party favors and hats for everyone as well as had a pot-luck lunch. Also his sister and brother=in-law, aunt and nephew as well as grandma came to visit him on his special day. The staff provided a family room where everyone could visit him at once. It was so encouraging for Melvin.
Also Craig Judd locate pinstriper and custom painter is raffling off two very unique posters to raise funds so some of the financial stress of having his Mother go with him to San Jose for specialized rehabilitation.
These two posters are very special, one is an original one of one and the other is a much sought after art piece that is no longer in circulation. Both are framed and signed by Craig. The raffle tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for %20.00. The posters are currently on display at Farnesi's where his contributors may purchase tickets or people may call Curt or Teresa at 326-7266 or 706-9190 area code 559.
We would also like to thank all the Harley riders that participated in the aIt is annual B&P Poker Run as they arbitarily passed the hat for Melvin. The gesture and generosity is so much appreciated.
Thank you all for your inquires and well wishes as well as prayers for Melvin. He has come so very far and has such a long way to go. God Bless you all.
Melvin has one more surgery, hopefully, for now before being transferred to a specialized rehab facility in San Jose. He will be there 2-3 months before coming back to the Fresno Facility for extended out-patient treatments and eventfully fitting of prosthetics. He is doing as well as expected and could certainly use some friends to visit him. It has been 146 days to date that he has been in the same room, same bed. He definitely would appreciate a different face other than Mom and Dad. God bless you all,.
WE WERE JUST CHECKING IN FOR AN UPDATE ON MELVIN, HAS HE HAD ANYMORE SURGERIES? HAS HE RETURNED BACK TO FRESNO? IF NOT WHEN? HOW ARE THERESA AND CURT DOING AS WELL
